The Women in Art Organisation of T&T will be hosting their annual Members’ Exhibition in September 2019. This will be opened on Monday, September 23, by the organisation’s patron, Zalayhar Hassanali, at 6.30 pm. The location will be the Art Society Gallery, corner Jamaica Boulevard and St Vincent Street, Federation Park. It will be closed on Republic Day, and will continue from Wednesday Spetmeber 24 until Saturday, September 28. The gallery is open from 12 – 6 pm daily.
The title of the exhibition this year will be Pure Fire. This is derived from the Greek word “Empyrean,” which means ”The Pure Fire of God.” It also alludes to the artist’s journey towards perfecting her craft, just as gold and silver are refined in fire. This exciting exhibition will showcase the diverse skills and styles of women artists such as Joy Luk Pat, Anika Plowden, Paula Cooper, Michelle Tappin-Davis, Tracy Thomas, Virginia Pacifique-Marshall, Delia Brathwaite and many others.
Corporate clients are reminded that they can claim an 100 per cent tax rebate on the purchase of original art work.
The organisation was founded in 1996 by artist Fraulein Rudder, with the goal of promoting women artists. Young artists, both boys and girls, are supported and encouraged through a biennial art competition for schools and adult male artists benefit from associate membership.
On the afternoon of Saturday, September 28, from 3 to 5.30 pm, there will be a “Pure Fire Sip’n Paint” art party, held in the gallery, at which a collective canvas will be painted by all artists who wish to join in. All materials will be provided. The resulting painting will be presented to Rudder in celebration of her birthday.
The Women in Art Organisation of T&T has extended a warm invitation to the national community to view this vibrant and exciting exhibition.
