A total of 747 people have succumbed to COVID-19 after 10 additional fatalities within the previous 24 hours, according to the Ministry of Health.
According to its daily update, nine of the people who died had comorbidities– two were elderly males, four were elderly females, one was a middle-aged male and two were middle-aged females.
The last fatality was a middle-aged female without any comorbidities.
The Ministry of Health also confirmed 148 new cases from samples collected between Thursday and Sunday.
Despite the new cases, those remaining active decreased to 8,148 after 264 people were released from the ministry’s care; 30 were discharged from public health facilities while 234 were released from home self-isolation.
There were 465 patients at hospitals with 16 and 43 warded in Intensive Care and High Dependency units respectively at the Couva Hospital and Multi-Training Facility.
There were a total of 7,387 people in home self-isolation, 148 at step-down facilities and 225 at state quarantine facilities.
The number of people to be fully vaccinated climbed to 44,001 after 4,859 people received their second doses.
The total number of people to receive their first dose also climbed to 178,472 of which 87,957 people received Oxford-AstraZeneca doses, 90,315 received Sinopharm doses and 200 received Pfizer doses.
