Two Laventille men are dead following an early morning shooting on Saturday.
The victims have been identified as Marvin Pierre, 46 and Jason Fernando, 31, both of Block 22. Both men died after the car which Pierre was driving was riddled with bullets by two gunmen around 5.20 am.
A third man, Aco Samuel, also of Block 22, was injured during the incident which occurred in the vicinity of Laventille West MP Fitzgerald Hinds's constituency office.
Samuel was taken to the Port-of-Spain General Hospital by officers of the Inter-Agency Task Force.
Up to Saturday afternoon, he remained hospitalised in a critical condition.
The lone woman in the vehicle, Jenelle Jackson, 30, of Casselton Avenue, Trincity, was not injured during the shooting.
Reports indicate that Pierre, a PH driver, had been hired to take the three to Block 22, Laventille. On the way, the car was forced to stop after a garbage bin had been placed in the middle of the roadway.
It was reported that as Pierre attempted to manoeuvre around the bin, two men armed with firearms emerged from a nearby track and began shooting at the car.
Pierre and Fernando, who were seated in the front passenger seat, died on the spot.
Investigations are continuing.
