Now that critical evidence from Google Inc is in the hands of police investigators, People's National Movement leader Dr Keith Rowley says he prefers to wait until they make findings before making any pronouncements.Speaking on the eve of confirmation by acting Police Commissioner Stephen Williams that the police had received information they had requested from Google Inc, Rowley said although the probe has been a lengthy one to date, it is a matter of great importance.
"As far as everybody knows, there is a police investigation taking place and notwithstanding the jumping up and down, and screaming elsewhere, the matter is in the hands of the police and has been so since May 2013," Rowley said during a PNM walkabout along the Marabella trainline yesterday."These are investigations and if there is an investigation, what the police have said is what I expected: They will be conducting an examination of the evidence and at the end of it, they will tell us what they have found.
"It seems to be taking quite a bit of time but we will wait until the authorities tell us what they have found."He added: "Don't forget this is matter of great importance for which we have called for an investigation in the Parliament and that call resulted in a police investigation and an Integrity Commission investigation and they will tell us what they have found."
As he walked along the impoverished side of San Fernando West, shaking the hands of unemployed adults, PNM candidate Faris Al-Rawi said Government had forgotten the people living on the Marabella trainline. He said if he were selected MP, first on his agenda would be to bring employment to the community, which has been riddled with crime, squatting and coastal erosion.During the walkabout, residents pledged their support for the party but warned that they were not taking mere promises again.
Eugene Edmund said jobs, materials for home improvement and a recreation centre for the idle youths were desperately needed. He said they have tirelessly asked their representatives for help but none was given."It is the youths I am talking for. We are tired of asking for these things but it is the same thing we see over and over when it is election time."They come around like now and promise us things but when they get into office, into power, they forget us until the next election. Please when you all get in power this time, don't forget us," Edmund said.
