This is the second double murder reported in Central Trinidad over the past 24 hours.
On Sunday, the bullet riddled bodies of Randy Ramdass, 28, and Anita Jagdeo, 27, were discovered in an abandoned canefield at Factory Road, Chaguanas.
Member of Parliament for Couva South, Rudranath Indarsingh MP, said the murders at Rivulet Road is only part of the growing crime problem in Couva.
“I expect the murder rate to pass 650 by the end of the year,” the Couva South MP declared. “The rising rate of crime is only indicative of the incompetence of the government to deal with this problem. They should go to the people and seek a new mandate.”
MP Indarsingh stated that crime in Couva “is getting worse”.
“No arrests have been made for the robbery at Republic Bank in Couva earlier this year when the safe was broken into,” he pointed out, noting that there have been “a number of robberies, home invasions and car-jackings in Couva, and the people are afraid."
