An Arima man is said to be in an unstable condition as he nursed gunshot wounds at hospital today, following a shooting on Wednesday night.
The 27-year-old man, of Temple Street, Arima, was at the NP Gas Station on Hollis Avenue around 11:20 pm on March 29, when the shooting incident occurred.
Reports are that the victim had fuelled the silver Nissan Almera of a 36-year-old woman who lives at Punnette Avenue, Arima, when moments after, a silver Nissan Tiida car pulled up and two men dressed in dark clothing exited the car and began shooting at him.
The woman ran off as the shooting began, and watched as the gunmen re-entered the waiting Tiida, which sped off along King Street, Arima.
She rushed to the aid of the victim who was lying on the backseat of her car nursing a single gunshot wound and drove him to the Arima Health Facility where he was treated.
The victim was later transferred to the Eric Williams Medical Sciences Complex, Mt Hope, where he was warded in an unstable condition.
Five 9-millimetre spent shells were retrieved at the scene.
Investigations are continuing.
