Twenty-seven-year-old baker Yeaseal Fields of Boss Lane, Enterprise, was arrested has been charged with possession of a firearm and ammunition.
He appeared virtually at the Chaguanas Magistrates’ Court before Magistrate Adrian Darmanie today. He pleaded guilty and was sentenced to 32 months with hard labour for possession of a firearm and two years’ hard labour for possession of ammunition. Both sentences are to run concurrently.
According to police reports, around 3 pm, while conducting a search at Isles Trace, Enterprise, police observed a man throw a black plastic bag into some nearby bushes. The man was held a short distance away after attempting to flee from the officers. The officers searched the bushes and found the black bag. It contained a Smith and Wesson .38SPL and five rounds of .38SPL ammunition. The suspect was arrested and later charged following enquiries conducted by PC Ramsundar-Wilson.
