Ron Paul a 33 old year resident of Beetham Gardens, was arrested and charged for malicious wounding on July 28th.
He appeared before Magistrate Antoine at the Port of Spain Magistrates’ Court, yesterday and was granted bail with surety in the sum of $40,000.00 or a cash alternative of $4000.00. He was also ordered to stay 100 metres away from the victim.
The matter was adjourned to August 27th 2020. The incident allegedly occurred at the victim’s home on July 28th, 2020.
According to police reports, the accused, who was visiting at the time, became annoyed with the victim during an argument.
He allegedly dealt her several blows to her face with his hands, causing a wound over her left eye. A report was made by the victim and officers responded shortly after.
The accused attempted to flee but was caught and arrested by the officers at the scene and taken to the Besson Street Police Station.
The victim was taken for medical treatment at the Port of Spain General Hospital and referred to the Gender-Based Violence Unit (GBVU). The investigation was spearheaded by the Head of the GBVU, Ag Supt Claire Guy-Alleyne and supervised by Ag Insp Lystra Bridglal.
Charges were laid by PC Jones.
