A 15-year old boy has been charged with two counts of robbing a police officer.
He was expected to appear virtually before a magistrate in the Juvenile Court yesterday charged with two counts of robbery with aggravation.
A police release said on Tuesday last, police received a distress call from a victim that his Chevy Cruze motor vehicle was stolen from Sunrees Road Extension, Penal.
The victim, a police officer, parked his vehicle along the roadway and left his wife and mother seated in the vehicle.
As the man left the location, two men, one armed with a gun, held them up and threw both women out of the vehicle.
The men then entered the vehicle and sped off.
Police on mobile patrol immediately responded to the all-points bulletin and spotted the vehicle along Station 10 Road, Penal. There was a chase and the vehicle crashed into some pipelines.
One of the suspects jumped out of the vehicle and fled leaving behind the other.
The occupant, later discovered to be the 15-year-old was caught trying to flee with a black tactical bag which contained other items belonging to the victim. The teen, of Penal, was subsequently charged by PC Hosein.
He is currently at the Fyzabad Detention Centre awaiting his virtual court hearing.
Tobago man charged with 2020 murder
A man has been charged with murder in which the victim was shot in 2019, but died in 2020.
A police release said Jameel Legall was charged with murder on Thursday following the advice of Director of Public Prosecutions, Roger Gaspard SC.
Legall, 27, of Bay Hill, Glamorgan, Tobago, was previously charged with attempted murder relative to the November 9, 2019 shooting of Kenneth Jack.
However, Jack succumbed to his injuries on October 27, 2020 at the Scarborough General Hospital.
Last Sunday, members of the Special Operations Response Team and officers of the Tobago Division embarked on an operation in the Tobago Division at Bay Hill, Glamorgan, where they arrested Legall, for the killing of Jack.
Legall was expected to appear virtually at the Scarborough Magistrates’ Court today yesterday to answer the charge.
