A 34-year-old Caroni man will face the courts once more in November, to answer to a murder charge, stemming from an incident in September this year.
MARK MAYNARD, of Margaret Cipriani Street, Kelly Village, Caroni, was charged on Tuesday 19th October with the murder of Rodrigo Santana. The charge was laid by Detective Constable Visham Ramoutar following advice received from Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) Roger Gaspard SC.
Maynard appeared before Magistrate Adrian Darmanie at the Chaguanas Magistrates’ Court today. The matter was adjourned to Wednesday 17th November 2021.
According to official police reports, on Saturday 18th September 2021, an Arouca resident left a food outlet on North Bank Road, Kelly Village, Caroni, after observing several men entering the establishment. The man went to the yard of a home nearby and allegedly was followed to the location. He was then allegedly heard pleading for his life amid the sound of gunshots. The victim was later discovered bleeding from apparent gunshot wounds and was taken to the Eric Williams Medical Sciences Complex. He died later that day while being treated.
Investigations conducted by detectives of the Homicide Bureau of Investigations (HBI) Region Three, led to the arrest of the suspect, Mark Maynard, on Thursday 14th October 2021.
The investigation was directed by Ag. Insp. Ian Rebeiro, spearheaded by Ag. Supt. Sean Dhillpaul and included other members of the HBI Region Three.
