People who take the jab at any one of the four Courts vaccination sites can now purchase an item at the stores at a discounted price on the very same day.
This incentive was announced by the Managing Director of Unicomer, Clive Fletcher, at the launch of the initiative at one of the sites — Courts Megastore in San Juan — yesterday.
“As a small token of thanks for those who come to be vaccinated, we offer a special dollar discount on purchases they make the same day,” Fletcher said.
The other three vaccination sites are at Courts’ Freeport, South Park and Lowlands, Tobago branches.
“We believe that we each need to do our part to support Trinidad and Tobago to get back to life we all once knew...we are optimistic that this venture is another important step to ensuring a more positive year ahead,” he said.
The Ministry of Health and Unicomer collaboration is set to go on for the next seven to ten days.
Minister of Health Terrence Deyalsingh said it was another attempt to ensure that people got the message.
“We started this type of initiative months ago in malls, other retail outlets and so on, but this one has a slight twist in that we are going to be anchored here, this is not a pop-up site,” Minister Deyalsingh said.
Three vaccines will be offered at the sites, Sinopharm, Pfizer and Johnson and Johnson, he said.
“So it’s a full-scale vaccination site,” he said.
He urged people to get vaccinated at their shopping convenience. He said there will be an observation area at the various Courts stores.
“We have an ambulance on-site, we have nurses on-site, we have resuscitation equipment on site,” he explained.
Deyalsingh thanked Unicomer for partnering with his ministry, adding “they did not hesitate” to help get the population vaccinated.
“Let the word go out, let the world go out that in this Yuletide season there is joy, there is salvation and the salvation is vaccination,” he said.
