The Lost Tribe has copped two victories in this year's Port-of-Spain City Corporation Downtown Carnival Parade of the Bands with their creative Taj. They won both the Most Colourful and the Large Band categories.
Following the Lost Tribe in second was Ronnie and Caro the Mas Band with Let's Go Tobago and Showtime Carnival was third with Mohawks Mohawks.
K2K Alliance and Partners, who portrayed Through Stained Glass Windows, topped the Medium Band category, followed by Jus Wee and Friends (Imagine) and Exousia Mas, who portrayed Dominion.
Tribal Connection Cultural won the Small Bands category with their portrayal of The Great Gathering while Belmont Exotic Stylish Sailors with Savannah Nostalgia was second and Cheyenne People's Cheyenne Bustle Dances was third.
The results were announced yesterday by Downtown Carnival Committee Wendell Stephen, who said he was elated that larger bands such as Lost Tribe were returning to the event. Over the weekend, a total of 165 children's bands crossed the stage while Carnival Monday and Tuesday 98 adult bands crossed, he said.
Martinez thanked Minister of National Security Stuart Young, Commissioner of Police Gary Griffith and the city's municipal police for ensuring the celebrations were safe and without any major incidents.
The Road March competition also saw Skinny Fabulous, Machel Montano and Bunji Garlin Famalay ahead of Kees Dieffenthellar's Savannah Grass and Nadia Batson's So Long.
