The body of a fisherman was fished out of the Gulf of Paria on Thursday, after a pirate attack.
The deceased has been identified as Lennox Joefield, 45.
Police were told Joefield went out to sea to fish around 4 pm on Wednesday, on a pirogue named Nick, from the Claxton Bay Fishing Depot.
However, around 5 pm on Thursday, the boat owner received a call from another boat captain who informed him that Joefield's body was found engaged in a net, some three nautical miles from the Paria Trading Jetty.
Police said the fisherman’s body bore marks of violence.
Joefield’s body was brought to shore around 8:30 pm on Thursday.
The boat was recovered minus its Yamaha engine valued $20,000.
In light of this latest attack, fishermen have gathered at the port this morning, to voice their concerns.
