Five peo­ple have been ar­rest­ed and one firearm and a quan­ti­ty of am­mu­ni­tion seized dur­ing stop and search and DUI ex­er­cis­es.

The ex­er­cis­es were con­duct­ed over the week­end in the North East­ern and Port of Spain di­vi­sions.  

In a state­ment to­day, the TTPS said in the first in­ci­dent, of­fi­cers of the Mara­cas Bay Po­lice Sta­tion con­duct­ed a stop and search ex­er­cise be­tween 7 pm and 10 pm, on  Sun­day 1st De­cem­ber 2024. 

Dur­ing the ex­er­cise, of­fi­cers stopped a 26-year-old sus­pect of El  So­cor­ro at the Mara­cas Bay Fish­ing Vil­lage and con­duct­ed a search. 

The search re­sult­ed in of­fi­cers re­port­ed­ly find­ing one Glock 26 pis­tol loaded with a mag­a­zine con­tain­ing 12 rounds of am­mu­ni­tion in his pos­ses­sion.  

Mean­while, of­fi­cers of the Port of Spain Di­vi­sion con­duct­ed a road and traf­fic en­force­ment op­er­a­tion be­tween 11:30 pm on Sat­ur­day  30th No­vem­ber 2024 and 4:30 am, on Sun­day 1st De­cem­ber 2024. 

Dur­ing the ex­er­cise, four peo­ple, ages 26 to 46, were ar­rest­ed for be­ing over the pre­scribed lim­it per 100ml of breath.
