Two friends lost their lives in a ve­hic­u­lar ac­ci­dent in the ear­ly hours of Thurs­day morn­ing along Mc Bean, Cou­va.

The de­ceased have been iden­ti­fied as Andy Gibbs and Bren­don Fran­cois. The in­ci­dent oc­curred around 3 a.m. when the car they were trav­el­ing in crashed in­to a brick wall near Son­ny Ladoo.

Eye­wit­ness­es re­count­ed that Fran­cois died on im­pact, while Gibbs, grave­ly in­jured and trapped in the man­gled wreck­age, was heard plead­ing with by­standers for help. In his fi­nal mo­ments, Gibbs re­port­ed­ly begged those who had stopped to as­sist to "help put back the car nor­mal."

De­spite the ef­forts of good Samar­i­tans, Gibbs suc­cumbed to his in­juries be­fore fire of­fi­cials ar­rived at the scene.

In­ves­ti­ga­tions are on­go­ing as po­lice work to de­ter­mine the cir­cum­stances lead­ing to the fa­tal crash.
