The Law Association says it never met with the government to discuss the names who were to be chosen to elevate to senior counsel.
In a release the Law Association noted statements by Attorney General Reginald Armour at yesterday's ceremony claiming they had met.
However, LATT is now saying the prime minister declined their invitation and the association had no discussions with the Attorney General on the matter.
"A decision was taken by the Sub Committee to discuss with the Honourable Attorney General, the setting up of an independent committee headed by the Honourable Chief Justice to consider these applications. A nominee of the Sub Committee communicated that position to the Honourable Attorney General and requested a meeting with the Honourable Prime Minister to discuss the establishment of the independent committee, "the release said.
LATT says there were no discussions with the Attorney General" on any applicant or the merits of any application for admission to the rank of senior counsel. "
