A 60-year-old man was arrested for wounding with intent. It is alleged that he drew a cutlass and dealt the victim a chop to his left hand and fled the scene. The victim was taken to the Chaguanas Health Facility by the Emergency Health Services, where he was treated and transferred to the Eric Williams Medical Sciences Complex for further treatment.
In separate incidents two illegal firearms were found, one in an apartment building in Maloney Gardens and the other in the Claxton Bay district. Details follow in this press release from the TTPS:
A 60-year-old man was arrested after police responded to a report of a wounding incident in Chaguanas, yesterday.
According to police reports, around 9:30 am on Monday 17th January,2022, the victim, a 43-year-old man was at his home when he had an altercation with his 60-year-old neighbour. During the incident, the neighbour allegedly drew a cutlass and dealt the victim a chop to his left hand before running away.
The victim was conveyed to the Chaguanas Health Facility by the Emergency Health Services, where he was treated and transferred to the Eric Williams Medical Sciences Complex for further treatment.
PC Vialva and PC Parks visited the scene and conducted investigations which resulted in the suspect being arrested at his home. Investigations are continuing.
Meanwhile, two illegal firearms were found in separate incidents during anti-crime exercises conducted in the Northern and Southern Divisions yesterday.
During the search of an apartment building in Maloney Gardens, officers found one silver revolver with 30 rounds of .38 millimeter ammunition in a laundry room, while Southern Division officers found one Glock pistol and two rounds of nine-millimetre ammunition in the Claxton Bay district.
Investigations are ongoing.
