The Christmas hat which Hapizool Budhooram wore before he was knocked down in a hit-and-run accident was found near his body on Thursday night.
Investigators said Budhooram, 54, a construction worker of Rodney Street and Charuma Village, Biche, was found lying unresponsive on Biche Ortoire Road.
Police said around 9.30 pm, officers, including Cpl Guerra and PCs Maxime, Mendoza, and De Graff, responded to reports of a man seen lying in the roadway. Upon arrival, officers found Budhooram dead.
They said he had visible injuries, including a wound to the left side of his head and tyre impressions on his chest and face.
Items recovered at the scene included sunglasses, a Christmas hat, and evidence of skid marks 74 feet from the body. The victim’s son, Amir Budhooram, identified him.
Investigators reviewed camera footage but are yet to locate the vehicle involved in the deadly incident.
