The Trinidad & Tobago National Petroleum Marketing Company Limited (NP) has activated its response protocols and procedures in light of the Tropical Storm Warning in effect, along with an ORANGE Level Alert.
NP also says it has implemented contingency measures to ensure that the national community and the aviation industry will continue to receive a steady and consistent supply of liquid fuels, liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) and jet fuel.
The company reports that its operations at both its Piarco and Crown Point Terminal facilities are equipped with an adequate supply of jet fuel, with Service Station deliveries of all liquid fuels set to continue as scheduled, to the extent feasible.
“Dealers being advised to maximize their storage capacity to mitigate any shortages ahead of the advancing weather system,” NP notes.
The company also is urging motorists to maintain their normal fuel purchasing patterns and avoid panic-buying, which will only serve to cause fuel shortages at the pump. NP also assures that LPG plant operations will continue as normal, with systems in place to prevent any disruption to supplies.
“In a coordinated effort, NP’s HSSE personnel and Maintenance teams have secured its Tank Farm, Lube Oil Blending Plant and LPG facilities, with the Maintenance and HSE teams poised to quickly respond to emergency requests across our Service Station network,” the company reports.
“Moreover, NP’s continued liaison and close interactions with the disaster preparedness and emergency management authorities throughout this evolving situation, will allow us to enhance our responsiveness to changing conditions, which could potentially impact our deliveries,” it added.
The company says even as it tries to meet customer demand, it is ensuring that its employees and facilities are safe.
“In situations like these, NP places great emphasis on the safety of its employees and on the security of its facilities. As we continue to closely monitor the system, we will ensure that the Country has a reliable and continuous supply of fuel, with Service Stations remaining open to the extent possible, without compromising the safety of their workers,” NP said.
