A Tobago man was granted bail in the sum of $70,000 when he appeared before a Magistrate last week, charged with sexual penetration of an 18-year-old woman.
Devon Stewart, 25, a labourer, of Patience Hill, was charged with the offence when he appeared before Magistrate Debby Ann Bassaw, in the Scarborough Magistrates’ First Court, on December 3rd, 2021.
As part of his bail conditions the accused was also ordered to stay away from the woman, refrain from communicating with her by any means and is to report to the Shirvan Road Police Station, once per week.
The matter was adjourned to December 30th 2021.
The victim reported that on November 10th 2020, she went to the home of a friend of the accused, where he allegedly had sexual intercourse with her against her will.
A report of the incident was made to the Tobago Division Child Protection Unit and an investigation launched.
The accused was arrested on December 1st 2021 and charged on December 2nd 2021.
Investigations were supervised by W/Supt. Claire Guy-Alleyne, ASP (Ag.) Roberts and Sgt. Miller, all of the Child Protection Unit.
