Police are investigating the murder of a Petit Valley man who was ambushed and shot multiple times on Monday night, as he drove through the area on his way home.
The bloody, lifeless body of mechanic Nicholas “Sharky” Stephenson, 50, was found at Pioneer Drive, Petit Valley, around 10 pm by residents who alerted police about gunfire in the area.
Investigators collected 35 9mm spent shell casings; and eight live 9mm rounds of ammunition at the scene.
One witness reported seeing a Mazda 3 car exiting the street seconds after Stephenson was shot.
Upon checking, he found Stephenson lying on the road, bleeding from multiple gunshot wounds about the body.
Stephenson’s truck was found parked on the side of the road with the driver’s door open and bullet holes in the front windscreen, while the front right and rear tyres were deflated.
The ambush by the killers caused Stephenson to crash into a white Nissan B13 which had been parked on the road.
