Officials at The Tunapuna Piarco Regional Corporation (TPRC) have sent for more sand as stock there has run out.
Guardian Media understands that the TPRC has distributed more than 1,000 bags of sand since they opened at 9 am.
Bevon Belgrave, a supervisor at the Tunapuna Piarco Regional Corporation, says they will continue to distribute sandbags to help with flood mitigation in the region, for as long as possible, today.
He said while they have been giving special consideration to elderly persons who have requested sandbags, allowing them to collect on behalf of more than one household, the limit is six sandbags per household.
Guardian Media was told a request for bags also has been made by the San Juan Laventille Regional Corporation.
