Ronaldo Thomas is expected to appear before an Arima Magistrate today, charged with the murder of Nicholas Mohith. Thomas aka ‘Hamza’, 34, of Unity Lane, Carapo, was charged with the offence following advice received from Acting Director of Public Prosecutions, Joan Honore-Paul.
According to police reports, Mohith, 31, a businessman, of Eastern Main Road, Arouca, was at his business place with a male relative around 4 pm onMarch 11th when a man armed with a gun entered. The assailant pointed the firearm at Mohith and shot him before making his escape. Mohith was taken to the Arima Hospital and then transferred to the Eric Williams Medical Sciences Complex where he died.
The accused was arrested on March 29th 2021 in the Carapo area, by officers of the Special Operations Response Team (SORT). Investigations were supervised by ASP Douglas of the Homicide Bureau of Investigations, (HBI) Region 2, while Thomas, was charged by PC Hosten also of HBI Region 2, on Friday 9th April, 2021. The first accused, Andrew Sutton, appeared before an Arima Magistrate on Thursday 25th March, 2021.
