The Ministry of Sport and Community Development and the Sports Company of Trinidad and Tobago (SporTT) made a significant investment by providing funding to the tune of over $9.4 million to various entities on October 6, including National Governing Bodies (NGBs), athletes, individuals, and community groups. This Cheque Presentation Ceremony took place at the Belmont Community Centre.
Shamfa Cudjoe-Lewis, Minister of Sport and Community Development, emphasized the government’s dedication to putting people and communities at the forefront of its development agenda, in keeping with the Vision 2030 mandate.
During the brief ceremony, Mr. Patrice Charles, Assistant Director of the Physical Education and Sport Division, encouraged recipients to use the funds for their intended purposes. Mr. Lionel Sampson, Deputy Director of the Community Development Division, also stressed the importance of using the funding to bring about positive transformations, revitalization, and empowerment within communities.
