A 13-year-old Arima Senior Comprehensive School student was robbed by men armed with cutlasses on Wednesday.
A police report stated that around 11.30 am, the victim was with other students playing basketball on the school’s compound when the ball went over the wall on the western perimeter.
The victim, along with another student, jumped over the wall to retrieve the ball when three men, two with cutlasses, accosted them.
The bandits took the teen’s Samsung A10 cellphone valued at $1,200 and $31 in cash.
The suspects escaped into the nearby bushes.
Turkish national robbed
of $20 at Tobago bar
An expatriate from Türkiye working in Tobago was robbed of TT$20 at knifepoint at a bar in Scarborough.
Police said around 2.20 am on Wednesday, the 60-year-old engineer was at the Dutch Fort Bar, located at Milford Road, when he went to use the washroom.
A man of African descent went into the washroom, placed a knife at the expatriate’s back and demanded cash.
The alleged offender then stole $20 from the Türkiye national and a struggle ensued.
The victim then dealt the bandit several blows to his face but he managed to escape.

Venezuelan woman stabbed
during row over money
A 27-year-old Venezuelan woman from Cunupia remains in serious condition at hospital, after being stabbed several times on Wednesday.
Police said the victim and her boyfriend were at home when an argument erupted over money, during which time the boyfriend allegedly stabbed the woman. She was taken to Chaguanas Health Facility nursing stab wounds to the neck, left shoulder and arm. Her lung was also punctured.
The migrant was then transferred to the Eric Williams Medical Sciences Complex in critical condition.
