Police are yet to arrest the main suspect wanted in connection with the murder of Kareen Ramlal.
The suspect was not known to most of Ramlal’s family.
Investigators say the man, of Penal Rock Road, gave a false statement saying he had put Ramlal in a taxi after she went to visit him two Sundays ago. He said she never reached home.
Ramlal’s body was found last Sunday around 2.32 pm, wrapped in a tarpaulin left inside a bamboo grove off the 8-mile mark at Bobb Trace, Penal Rock Road.
The murder weapon, a hammer, was found close by, along with a bottle of perfume and an empty beer bottle.
Ramlal was released from prison last December, after pleading guilty to felony murder in the death of her husband Anil Jadoo in May 2006.
She and her mother Ramdaye Ramlal, then aged 67 and friend Gewan Pardassie, 56, plotted to kill Anil by giving him goat stew laced with poison and then hitting him on the head with a piece of wood.
Anyone with information on Ramlal’s killing can contact Crime Stoppers at 800-TIPS.
