Taxi drivers servicing the southwestern peninsula are engaging in a drive-slow motorcade to protest the deplorable conditions of the roads.
In support of the taxi drivers, members of the public are also burning tyres on the roads in various locations.
Speaking at the Vessigny roundabout, John David, president of the Point Fortin Taxi Drivers Association, said taxi drivers and residents have had enough.
He said it costs taxi drivers about $4,500 per month to maintain their vehicles because of the bad road conditions.
David also complained that while several taxi drivers have converted to CNG, to fill up their tanks they have to go to Mon Repos in San Fernando.
Due to the major landslips in Cedros, however, the Cedros taxi drivers complained that the gas station in Cedros has no gas because the trucks cannot pass to deliver fuel.
Arthur Lewis who came out in support of the drivers complained that he was standing on the side of the road when the police assaulted him.
The drivers are calling on the government to fix their roads and address their issues.
Cedros Councillor Shankar Teelucksingh who is supporting the drivers called on citizens to unite and send a clear message to the government that enough is enough.
