A 16-year-old suspect is now in police custody, following an altercation in Mayaro which left two relatives nursing chop wounds. One of the men’s arms was almost severed in the attack, police said.
The incident occurred around 9.30 pm on Saturday.
The victims, ages 24 and 25, both of La Brea Village, Guayaguayare, Mayaro, were involved in an altercation with the suspect and his brothers at La Brea Village.
The victims reportedly attacked the suspect’s brothers, a police report stated. The suspect then chopped the younger victim, almost severing his left hand, while the other victim was chopped on his left shoulder. The injured men were taken to the Mayaro Health Facility, where they were attended to and then transferred to the Sangre Grande Hospital.
The police took the teenage suspect to be medically examined and then to the Fyzabad Police Station pending enquires.
