A lifeguard’s air rifle was stolen after his vehicle’s window was smashed at the Vessigny Beach facility in La Brea.
The 58-year-old victim, who is employed at the Ministry of National Security, secured his Toyota Wagon around 6.30 am on Wednesday in the parking lot of the beach facility and went away.
When he returned around 2.15 pm, a security guard informed him that two suspects had broken into his car.
The glass on the right rear door was smashed and a Sinatra .177 smoothbore air rifle was missing.
When the police viewed the CCTV footage, they saw only one man with a white jersey over his face, breaking the glass, stealing the air rifle and escaping into the nearby bushes.
The air rifle was valued at $19,000, while the glass cost $900.
La Brea police are investigating. (SW)
