Two separate shootings—in Arima and Barataria—have left two men dead and one hospitalised in a stable condition.
In the first incident around 11.20 pm on Friday, Neeval Rampersad died after being shot at Orchard Gardens, O’Meara Road, Arima.
Reports indicate Rampersad, 39, of Thani Trace, Caratal, Cumuto, was seated in a vehicle with his friend Anthony Solozano when they were approached by gunmen who opened fire.
Rampersad died at the scene, while Solozano, 35, of Arena Road, San Raphael, sustained injuries.
Nearby residents who came to the men's assistance rushed the bleeding Solozano to the Arima Health Facility.
He was later transferred to the Eric Williams Medical Sciences Complex (EWMSC), Mt Hope, where he remains warded in a stable condition.
Meanwhile, a shooting several hours later at Sixth Avenue, Malick, Barataria, left one man dead.
The deceased was identified as McKlaston Mannette, 21, of Ford Street, Bon Air, Arouca.
A motive is yet to be determined for the killings.
Meanwhile, an Arima man who was badly beaten by bandits who broke into his home on Wednesday, succumbed to his injuries on Friday, bringing the total number of murders for the year to 74.
Roland Anthony Wilson, 66, of Wilson Extension, Blanchisseuse Road, Arima, passed away at the EWMSC.
Wilson was attacked and beaten around 6.30 pm on February 12 at his home by three men armed with cutlasses and a firearm.
During the home invasion, the men reportedly dealt Wilson blows about the body as they stole a quantity of cash, tools, and other valuables.
He was taken to the Arima Health Facility and then to the EWMSC where he had been hospitalised.
