One man was arrested and six illegal weapons and quantities of assorted ammunition seized by officers of the Central Division Task Force, during an early morning anti-crime exercise conducted in the Tortuga Village district, on Saturday 1st August 2020.
The anti-crime exercise was carried out between 4:30 am and 8:30 am.
Official police reports indicate that intelligence was obtained which led police officers to the Tortuga Village home of a 32-year-old man, where they executed a search warrant for firearms and ammunition.
The police search resulted in the discovery and seizure of the following items.
1. One Cobra revolver;
2. One Maverick Mossberg pump-action shotgun;
3. One 12-gauge barrel;
4. Two 12-gauge shotguns;
5. One 12-gauge homemade shotgun;
6. One prohibited weapon, namely a nail gun;
7. 479 rounds of ammo for a nail gun;
8. 140 rounds of ammo; and
9. 75 12-gauge cartridges.
Seventeen spent casings and cartridges also were recovered in the house.
The TTPS confirms that the suspect was arrested in connection with the discovery.
The anti-crime exercise was coordinated by Snr. Supt. (Ag.) Curtis Simon and Supt. (Ag.) Wayne Mystar, included officers of the Couva Criminal Investigations Department.
Investigations are ongoing.
