A 30-year-old woman from Freeport was killed instantly when the vehicle in which she was a passenger collided with another vehicle along the Sir Solomon Hochoy Highway, just after the Claxton bay over pass, on Sunday night.
And the driver of the vehicle which had crashed into hers, a 25-year-old man from Couva, died of his injuries upon arrival at hospital.
Dead are 30-year-old Julia O'souna, of Calcutta #1, Freeport, and 25-year-old Kyle Sargeant, of Roystonia, Couva.
According to a police report, at about 8:30 pm, 25-year-old Anderson Mohammed of Calcutta, Freeport, was driving his white Mitsubishi Lancer in the company of his common-law wife (Julia Osuna). The couple were proceeding north along the highway when, just after the Claxton Bay overpass, a white Nissan AD wagon collided with the rear of their car.
Police report that both drivers lost control of their respective vehicles with the collision.
One vehicle (Sargeant’s) crashed into a tree on the western side of the highway, while the other (Mohammed’s) overturned several times, throwing out passenger Julia Osuna onto the centre median of the highway.
Osuna was pronounced dead on the scene while the other driver, Kyle Sergeant, was pronounced dead on arrival at the San Fernando General Hospital.
Osuna’s common-law-husband, Anderson Mohammed, also was taken to the hospital where he was treated and warded in a serious condition.
Couva Police are investigating.
