Two people were shot and killed overnight on Wednesday, and two others were wounded in separate incidents.
Around 12.54 am, police responded to a shooting along Laventille Road, San Juan, near Boot Hill, where they met a 27-year-old man from Happy Hill standing along the road with a gunshot wound on the left side of his hip. They took him to the Eric Williams Medical Sciences Complex, Mt Hope, where he was warded.
Around 1.05 am, officers of the North Eastern Division Task Force also responded to another shooting at Laventille Road, when they saw an unidentified man of African descent, approximately five feet six inches tall, shirtless and wearing a blue coloured three-quarter pants, suffering from gunshot wounds.
He was taken to the Eric Williams Medical Sciences Complex where he was pronounced dead around 1.15 am.
A total of 38 spent 9 mm shell casings were recovered at both scenes.
Police are yet to establish a motive.
In Arima, in an unrelated incident, Dwayne Carimbocas, aka Foots, 17, of Martinez Trace, Arima, was killed and a 19-year-old man of Almond Crescent, Bregon Park, was wounded.
Around 7.30 pm, Carimbocas and the other man were at a friend’s home at John Lane Extension, Arima, when gunshots were heard in the living room area. Carimbocas was found lying on the floor in the living room with a wound to his head and the other man with a gunshot wound on the right side of his buttocks.
Police responded and took both men to the Arima Hospital, where Carimbocas was pronounced dead on arrival around 8 pm.
The other victim was treated and warded in a stable condition.
Police recovered ten spent 9 mm shells, three fragments and two projectiles. Enquiries are continuing.
