The Uni­ver­si­ty of Trinidad and To­ba­go (UTT) has re­ceived in­ter­na­tion­al ac­cred­i­ta­tion from the Joint Board of Mod­er­a­tors for its Bach­e­lor of Ap­plied Sci­ence (B.A.Sc.) in Civ­il En­gi­neer­ing Sys­tems and Na­tion­al En­gi­neer­ing Tech­ni­cian Diplo­ma (NETD) in Civ­il En­gi­neer­ing un­der the Project Man­age­ment and Civ­il In­fra­struc­ture Sys­tems Unit.

The ac­cred­i­ta­tion vis­it was con­duct­ed by JBM on be­half of the En­gi­neer­ing Coun­cil, UK, in Oc­to­ber 2022 at UTT’s San Fer­nan­do Cam­pus.

The Joint Board of Mod­er­a­tors is com­prised of the In­sti­tu­tion of Civ­il En­gi­neers (ICE), the In­sti­tu­tion of Struc­tur­al En­gi­neers (IStructE), the Char­tered In­sti­tu­tion of High­ways and Trans­porta­tion (CI­HT), the In­sti­tute of High­way En­gi­neers (IHE) and the Per­ma­nent Way In­sti­tu­tion (PWI). The JBM mem­ber in­sti­tu­tions are li­censed by the En­gi­neer­ing Coun­cil (En­gC), the UK’s reg­u­la­to­ry body for the en­gi­neer­ing pro­fes­sion, to ac­cred­it de­gree pro­grammes that par­tial­ly or ful­ly sat­is­fy the aca­d­e­m­ic re­quire­ments for In­cor­po­rat­ed En­gi­neer (IEng) or Char­tered En­gi­neer (CEng). In line with En­gC pol­i­cy, JBM ac­cred­i­ta­tion is for a max­i­mum pe­ri­od of five years.
