In the earlier incident, police found the body of a Venezuelan national in a forested area in Moruga with a gunshot wound to the head.
The body was not immediately identified.
A police report stated that three police officers were on patrol around 12.30 pm when they saw about 20 Venezuelans at a concrete structure that is currently under construction opposite the La Lune Recreational Ground. When the officers inquired about their status, one of the men said they were beaten and robbed in the bushes. He gesticulated that someone got chopped to the back of the head and could be dead.
He took the police in a western direction along the La Lune coastline and they then walked for about three miles. When it was around 1 pm, the Venezuelan national pointed to a forested area where he claimed the body was located.
He said five masked rasta men with big guns robbed them.
The officers walked about 60 feet up a hill and in track surrounded by bushes, saw the body.
There was a marijuana tattoo below the left ear and the victim had a spike-up hairstyle. The deceased appeared to be in his mid-30s and was barefooted.
The officers also saw what they believed to be a gunshot wound to the head. There were several items of clothing and foodstuff scattered near the body. The body was removed around 4.45 pm after it was viewed by the District Medical Officer.
Investigations are continuing.
