Parts of Central and South Trinidad continue to experience rough weather as the Yellow Level Adverse Weather Alert activated for today by the Trinidad and Tobago Meteorological Service (TTMS) remains in effect.
The alert, issued at 7 this morning, should be deactivated by 6 pm today, weather permitting.
Forecasters say there is the 70% (high) chance of a few heavy showers and occasional thunderstorms associated with an area of low level convergence, combined with a favorable upper level environment.
According to the TTMS, these conditions are expected to mainly affect areas of Central and Southern Trinidad, today. Gusty winds in excess of 50 km/hr, and street or flash flooding is likely in the vicinity of heavy showers and thunderstorms.
The Met Service says to expect a gradual improvement is expected toward late afternoon.
Already, the Couva / Tabaquite / Talparo Regional Corporation has reported rising water levels in some parts of the region, with evidence of flooding along the Caparo Valley Brasso Road in the vicinity of the breeding unit.
The ODPM is advising the national community, particularly persons living in the central and southern regions of Trinidad, to be prepared for possible flooding and other adverse weather hazards.
