He made his debut for the T&T team in May 2004, third to Kenwyne Jones and Jan Michael Williams, who both made their international debuts in 2003. For the 2015/2016 season, Andre Boucaud was made captain of the Dagenham and Redbridge club in England.
Captaining a club in English professional football is a great deal and a huge honour in the game over there.
Currently preparing for tomorrow's international friendly with Mexico in Salt Lake City, Boucaud reflected on the first set of matches this season leading the Dagenham team, describing it as a great responsibility.
"It's been good so far. Obviously there is a lot more on your shoulders as a captain. Now once the team doesn't do well in a match there are a lot more eyes looking your way and you have to answer for certain things. But the best part is being able to lead the team and show the way for your teammates. I think so far we've had a fair start to the season. We've drawn our last two games and just really trying to get into a good gear for the rest of the season," said the 30-year-old midfielder.
"I think the fact that the club has decided to make me the captain shows that they saw something in me and I think they recognise the fact that I'm playing international football regularly and the national team has been doing quite good in recent times. So there are a lot of pluses at the moment and hopefully I can just carry on from here both for club and country."
Marshall makes debut in Mexico
His last gasp equaliser against Mexico in the Group phase CONCACAF Gold Cup encounter will go down in history as the item that completed one of the greatest comebacks in the tournament's history and certainly by any national team of T&T. For Yohance Marshall, it was a moment to cherish and a few weeks later he's now reflecting on the current phase of his professional career in Mexico.
Marshall signed with Mexican Ascenso MX League (Second tier) club Murcielagos last month and made his debut on Saturday in a 2-1 loss to Juarez, coming on in the 46th minute for Uruguayan Rodrigo Pastoroni. Two days later he joined the T&T team in Salt Lake City for tomorrow's international friendly with "El Tri".
"It's been a pretty decent period for me and a good start with the club," Marshall said. "I made my debut in the second half before coming to Utah and so far I could say I've settled in quite well. The team gets about ten thousand fans for each game and of course they are football crazy across there."
He said there are some persons who identify him by the goal against the Mexican at the Gold Cup.
"Some people bring it up yes and I guess they recall the goal but I think the more performances and results we can gather like that one will do us a whole lot of good when it comes to our recognition as players and as a country in the footballing world," Marshall said.
David's tough times in Kazakhstan
National defender Aubrey David is getting some breathing space away from the rigors of club football in Kazakhstan. The 24 year old player, who has 22 international appearances for this country, has to be on top of his game for Premier Division club Shakhter Karangandy as they are battling relegation at the moment.
The club itself has a rich history, being the first and one of two clubs from Kazakhstan to reach the group stage of the UEFA Europa League. The also shocked Celtic 2-0 in the first leg of a UEFA Champions' League group stage qualifier but lost the second leg.
Kazakhstan is the only Central Asian country to play in Europe. It joined UEFA in 2002 after competing for 10 years in the Asian Football Confederation.
"It's a difficult period for the club at the moment. We are in a relegation battle at the moment and we have just a few games left in the season. Personally my position is okay but of course the main thing is for us to dig deep and see if we can salvage something. The club is known as one of the best in Kazakhstan but this season we dropped off and it has been a struggle for the most part," David said.
"Now coming into the national team allows me to re-focus on international football again and it's always a joy to play for the country. This game against Mexico is just another opportunity for us to test our ability as a team and to get more familiar with playing top teams on the international stage.
"This is the purpose of being out here, trying to improve every day and get ourselves ready for the World Cup qualifiers. I have every bit of faith that we can pull it off and go on to greater things."
