West Indies Women's cricketer Britney Cooper was honoured when the National League of the T&T Cricket Board (TTCB) staged its prize distribution function at the NESC Auditorium, Rivulet Road in Couva, on Saturday.Right-handed Cooper walked away with three awards for the highest individual score, most runs and best batting average in the Premiership League women's competition.
In the Championship Division, Nadia Mohammed won the same awards.Cooper was absent at the function as she is currently involved in a camp with the West Indies Women's squad that is preparing for a One-Day International series against Pakistan starting later this month.
Also in the premiership, Shenelle Lord took two awards for most wickets in the women's Knock-out and T20 competitions. This was matched by Afy Fletcher who grabbed most wickets in a match, and the best bowling average honours in the Premiership League.
It was also a proud moment for president of the T&T Women's Cricket Association Jocelyn Francois Opadeyi, secretary Monica Sobers Hylton, and treasurer Reina Vire who were all present and assisted in the distribution of prizes.
...Rousillac, Valiants top South awards
Also on Saturday at the NESC Auditorium, Rousillac and Valiants cricketers were the top winners in the South Zone segment of the National League awards.Peter Grimes and Kamesh Yadram both scored centuries while playing for the Rousillac first team, while Kenneth Jhonnity notched his ton for the reserves, but it was the unsponsored side Valiants who had a better accumulated total of four three-figure performances.
David John registered his century for the La Romaine based first team while Darin Soogrim, Ryan Cassie and Rajeev Kisseur shone for the reserves to make Valiants manager Pirtie Ramnarinesingh a very pleased man.
mong the bowlers, Vikesh Mahadeo (MYO), Clinton Pestano (Diamond) and Neive McNally (Valiants) were winners of awards for their ten-wicket hauls.
