Brian Harricharan was the lone player to win two titles when the 2019 Subway Junior Tennis Tournament continued with Doubles finals at Trinidad Country Club, Maraval, on Tuesday afternoon.
In the Boys' 10 Doubles decider, Harricharan combined with Connor Carrington as the top seeds defeated second-ranked duo, Nirav Dougdeen and Zakariyya Mohammed 4-1, 4-1.
On Monday, in the semifinals, Carrington and Harricharan overcame third-seeded Justin Horsford and Jaysean Wells 4-2, 4-2 while Dougdeen and Mohammed trounced Jovan Garibana and Darius Rahaman 4-0, 4-0.
When the Singles was completed on Monday morning, Harricharan followed up his upset of second-seeded Dougdeen 5-3, 4-2 by spanking number one player, Carrington 4-0, 4-1 for the title. Top-ranked Carrington beating Alex Sharma 4-1, 4-1 in his semis.
The Harricharan family had more reasons to celebrate on Tuesday when Brianna Harricharan and Eva Pasea lived up to their top billing in the Girls 12 Doubles by beating second seeds, Madeline D'Arcy, and Arya Siewrattan 4-0, 4-2.
In the semifinals, Harricharan and Pasea whipped Em-Miryam Campbell-Smith and Gabriella Prince 4-1, 4-2, while D'Arcy and Siewrattan stopped Maliha Al-Fayed and Zariah Rambaran 4-1, 4-0
In the Girls 12 and Under Singles, Prince capped off a stellar showing when she dispatched D'Arcy 4-1, 4-0 in their championship match.
This after Prince ousted top-ranked Brianna Harricharan 4-2, 5-4 (4) in the final-four and D'Arcy overcame second-ranked Pasea, 53-, 5-4(4).
However, in the Boys 12 Doubles, second-seeded duo, Yeshowah Campbell-Smith, and Daniel Rahaman enjoyed a 5-3, 4-2 win against top pair, Logan Hamel-Smith, and Kayden Siewrattan.
This after Campbell-Smith and Rahaman beat Josh Low and Messiah Permell 4-0, 4-1 in their last-four duel while Hamel-Smith and Siewarattan ousted Daniel Dumas and Malcolm Prince 4-1, 4-2.
The Boys 14 Doubles will be concluded tomorrow when Zachery Byng and Zechariah Permell, 5-3, 4-1 semifinals winners over James Hadden and Daniel Jeary, meet the winner of the remaining semis between Isaiah Boxill and Kale Dalla Costa and Tobagonians Jaylon Chapman and Jordell Chapman.
On Monday, in the Boys 12 and Under competition, Jordell Chapman backed up his defeat of second-ranked Rahaman (4-0, 4-0) in the quarterfinals and fourth-ranked Siewrattan 4-2, 4-2, in the final-four by trouncing top player, Hamel-Smith 4-0, 4-0 for the title.
Hamel-Smith outlasted Permell 1-4, 4-2, 10-5 in their semifinal.
Jaylon Chapman also won the Boys 14 and Under competition as the second-seeded right-hander dominated Tim Pasea, 6-0, 6-3 for the crown.
Chapman had a 6-1, 6-3 win over third seed James Hadden, and Pasea rallied past Nathen Martin 6-3, 6-7(3), 10-8 in their respective semifinals.
Abba Campbell-Smith and Elyse Ferguson lifted the lone Doubles crown contested on Monday before the rain stopped play, beating Reena Dougdeen and Jannah Mohammed 5-3, 4-0 to add to their 4-2, 4-1 win against Karissa Mohammed and Lilly Mohammed for a perfect 2-0 record in the three-team round-robin series.
In the Girls 10 and Under Singles decider, the second-seeded Shiloh Walker brushed aside top-ranked Em-Miryam Campbell-Smith 4-2, 4-2.
This after Em-Miryam Campbell-Smith defeated Khloe Kirton 4-0, 4-0 and Walker ousted her sister, Abba Campbell-Smith 4-0, 4-2 in their semifinals on Sunday.
