The trio of Joevin Jones, Marcus Joseph and Jomal Williams could be all included in a provisional 28-man squad set to be announced by Soca Warriors coach Angus Eve on Saturday in preparation for the Concacaf Nations League B Group C series which kicks off on June 3.
The Soca Warriors who will meet the Stern John-coached St Lucia in a closed-door match at the Mannie Ramjohn Stadium, Marabella on Monday from 4 pm will kick off their League B campaign away to Nicaragua on June 3 before returning home to face the Bahamas on June 6 at the Hasely Crawford Stadium in Mucurapo, Port-of-Spain at 8 pm.
T&T then faces St Vincent and the Grenadines in Kingstown on June 10 before closing off the window against the Vincentians on June 13 at the Hasely Crawford from 7 pm at the end of which only the top team from the round-robin will gain promotion to League A while the cellar-placed team will be demoted to League C.
The 30-year-old Carenage-born Jones last played and scored for T&T on June 8, 2021, in a 2-0 win against St Kitts and Nevis to end an ill-fated Concacaf World Cup qualifying campaign under former coach, Englishman Terry Fenwick.
Jones then missed T&T's 2021 Concacaf Gold Cup campaign under new coach Eve after he suffered a left leg injury while playing for Inter Miami FC against Orlando City in a Major League Soccer (MLS) match at the DRV PNK Stadium in Ft Lauderdale, Florida in mid-June, 2021.
The tricky T&T utility player only made his return from injury last month for Inter Miami in a 2-0 win over Orlando City B in the MLS Next Pro League on April 10 and has since been included in five straight matchday squads for Inter Miami's first team, including making a 74th-minute introduction in a 4-2 penalty-kicks loss against Orlando City after a 1-1 draw in the Lamar Hunt US Open Cup on Wednesday night.
The Point Fortin-born 31-year-old Joseph played the last of his 37 matches for the Soca Warriors at the last Concacaf Gold Cup, a 1-1 draw with Guatemala and since then has been on fire for his Indian Hero I-League club, Mohammedan SC.
Last month, Joseph was named the "Most Valuable Player" of the I-League after he topped the scoring charts as well with 15 goals to earn the title of Hero Moto Corp "Hero of the League" even though his side finished the season in second place behind Gokulam Kerala, who the T&T international represented in the 2019/2020 season.
Port-of-Spain-born 28-year-old Williams, who plies his trade with Luis Angel Firpo in the El Salvadorean Primera Division, last don the senior national team colours in November 2019 against Anguilla, a 1-0 and has enjoyed a good two seasons with his Central American club.
Contacted for comment Eve while not wanting to confirm any players shortlisted for the team did admit that once the players are physically fit and can add to what he wants in his team, they will all be considered for team selection.
The T&T coach who led his team to the Courts Caribbean Classic title several months back after beating Barbados 9-0 and drawing with Guyana 1-1, added that he was keeping a close eye on matches this weekend before confirming his 28 players' squad which will be cut to the final 23 for the opening match away to Nicaragua.
He said, "We have a few players who will be involved in matches with their respective clubs this week in the USA, Europe and other places and we have to keep our eyes open and fingers crossed so that they don't pick up any injuries before we can confirm our team."
Among those players are Shannon Gomez, Tristan Hodge, Noah Powder, Neveal Hackshaw, Mekeil Williams, Jelani Peters, Jesse Williams, Leston Paul, Andre Fortune II, Kareem Moses, Molik Khan, Ryan Telfer, Leland Archer, Ajani Fortune, Akeem Garcia, Andre Rampersad, and Jamal Jack.
Among the players already back in Trinidad training are Costa Rica-based defender and T&T 2021 Player of the Year Aubrey David and Keston Julien of Moldovan champions Sheriff Tiraspol, Khaleem Hyland, Judah Garcia, and his brother Levi Garcia.
The locally-based players who are likely to be shortlisted are John-Paul Rochford, Nicholas Dillon, Reon More, Michael Poon-Angeron, Jabari Mitchell, Jameel Boatswain, Duane Muckette, Kevon Goddard, Justin Sadoo, Marvin Phillip, Real Gill, Jabari St Hillaire and Kaihim Thomas.
Eve is also in the midst of preparing the national Under-20 men's team for the 2022 Concacaf Under-20 Championship in which they play Haiti on June 19, followed by Mexico on June 21 and Suriname, two days later in San Pedro Sula, Honduras at the end of which the top three will advance to the quarterfinal stage.
