T&T striker Marcus Joseph scored his fifth and sixth goals of the season to earn Mohammedan SC a 2-2 draw with Aizawl FC in the Indian I-League at the Kishore Bharti Khrirangan, Kolkata on Friday.
Aizawl FC took the lead in the 32nd minute when Henry Kisekka headed in a right-sided centre from Tharpui, but five minutes into time added-on at the end of the first half, the 31-year-old Joseph collected a pass inside the 18-yard box from Sebastian Thangmuansang before he fired past Aizawl Fc goalkeeper on his near post.
Eight minutes into the second half, Aizawl FC regained the lead at 2-1 when Kisekka glanced in his second of the match off a left-sided free-kick from Lalthanmawia.
Joseph then wasted a chance for his and his team’s second item in the 75th minute when he skewed a right-footed effort wide of the mark from about eight yards out.
However, 12 minutes into time added on, Joseph snatched a last-gasp equaliser for Mohammedan SC when he started and finished off a cleverly worked free-kick with a first post finish to the delight of his teammates.
The draw was the second in as many matches for Mohammedan SC, to remain ninth on the 12-team table with 13 points from 11 matches, the same as seventh-placed Churchill Brothers while Aizawl is one spot above in seventh with 14 points.
The trio Kenkre FC, Neroca FC, and Sudeva FC occupy the bottom three positions with ten, eight, and two points, respectively.
At the top of the table is Punjab with 23 points followed by Sreenidi Deccan with 22, while TRAU (19), Gokulam Kerala (18), Real Kashmir (18), and Rajasthan United (18) each occupy, the remaining top six positions.
