Neil Latchmansingh and Chloe Ajodha were the overall men's and Ladies champions when the 2021 edition of the Chaguaramas Golf Club held its Tournament over the weekend (November 20-21) at the Chaguaramas Golf Course, Chaguaramas.
Latchmansingh, who emerged as the Club's 2021 champion and first place in the A Class category, recorded an overall two-day score of 136 and was rewarded with the blue jacket, bragging rights while the best Net score was recorded by Nole Latchman, 131.
Latchmansingh finished four shots ahead of Ethan Hill and former national footballer Christon Baptiste. A countback was needed to separate Hill and Baptiste into second and third place, respectively.
Among the Ladies, Ajodha's 169 saw her prevail over Jada Charles (179) and Elise La Borde (186), respectively.
In the B Class, Andrew Vieira had a clear victory, finishing seven shots ahead of Andy Gomez-Burke and Richard Lutchman, who were also separated by a count back.
Meanwhile, it was a good weekend for the organisers after months of COVID-19 restrictions that forced avid golfers away from the Greens. The tournament was supported by the JMMB Group and the event attracted approximately 70 golfers.
Speaking at the award ceremony, Club president Keith Morren expressed his deep appreciation to JMMB for partnering with the Club for its first tournament for 2021 after such a long hiatus from competition.
He said: “We are thankful to all of our sponsors who came on board and showed their support for our venture today. With JMMB’s support, we were able to really elevate the event this year and bring an exceptional experience to our members and partners. It is our hope to make this event a must-do event for golfers in Trinidad and Tobago.”
Karryl Whitehall-Morren, JMMB Marketing Representative, who was on hand to present the trophies to the winners, also expressed her delight with the partnership.
She said: “JMMB is very much about community building and we see this event as such. Chaguaramas is known as the people’s golf course. A home for golfers from all walks of life. After the last few months, we have had as a country it was wonderful to be a part of a sporting activity, despite the restrictions of masking and social distancing, that brought people together. We commend the CGC for a job well done.”
