It was more of the same with no ath­lete meet­ing the au­to­mat­ic qual­i­fy­ing stan­dard for the up­com­ing Tokyo Games in Japan at the sec­ond Olympic Tri­als host­ed by the Na­tion­al As­so­ci­a­tion of Ath­let­ics Ad­min­is­tra­tion of T&T (NAAATT), on Sun­day at the Hase­ly Craw­ford Sta­di­um in Mu­cu­rapo, Port-of-Spain.

Sev­er­al saw marked im­prove­ment in the times but was still out­side of the qual­i­fy­ing bench­mark in­clud­ing quar­ter­mil­er Kird­ell Mc In­tosh and sprint­ers Leah Bertrand and Shani­qua Bas­combe.

Un­at­tached run­ner Mc In­tosh again topped the men's 400 me­tres as in the first Tri­als last Mon­day with a 48.82-clock­ing but it was not enough to go un­der the 44.90-stan­dard. He al­so fin­ished ahead of Fyz­abad's Joshua Mas­call, who matched his time of 49.26, and Eli­jah Joseph (Mount­ing Ea­gles), who was slow­er with 50.12

Bertrand of Sim­plex com­plet­ed the women's sprint dou­ble win­ning the 200m with a wind-as­sist­ed 23.88 com­pared to her 24.51 (2.0) in plac­ing sec­ond at last Mon­day's tri­al but in the 100m, she clocked a slow­er 11.58 (2.1), com­pared to her 11.52 (2.0).

Bas­combe (Cougars), the reign­ing “Youth Sports­woman of the Year”, was the sec­ond place fin­ish­er in the 100m dash with an im­proved 11.75 (2.1) in com­par­i­son to her third-place fin­ish, a week ago with 11.97 (2.0), swap­ping places with Ka­maria Du­rant (Sim­plex), who was third in 12.32 (2.1).

The men's 100m al­so lacked with none of the sprint­er com­ing close to the 10.05-stan­dard. Rev­ell Web­ster of Con­corde, who won sec­tion one in the timed fi­anl was the over­all win­ner with 10.80 (2.8 ) with sec­tion two win­ner Ay­o­dele Taffe (Wild­cats) sec­ond with 10.87 (-1.8) and Nathan Far­in­ha (Wild­cats) third in 10.94 (-1.8).
