ABU DHABI – Obed McCoy grabbed three wickets and Shai Hope blasted another unbeaten half century as the Dubai Capitals steamrolled the Desert Vipers by nine wickets when the International League T20 (ILT20) continued in the United Arab Emirates on Monday.
Leg spinner Qais Ahmad took 4-25, while McCoy ended with 3-22 to dismiss the Vipers for a paltry 137 in 19.4 overs after they sent them in to bat.
Dan Lawrence topscored with 44 from 31 balls and Sam Curran hit 28. Sherfane Rutherford faced only two balls and did not trouble the score.
Hope then scored 52 not out from 54 balls with four fours and one six and Gulbadin Naib smashed an unbeaten 55 from 31 balls and the Capitals eased to 138 for one off 17.1 overs.
The pair shared an unbroken partnership of 96 after opener Adam Rossington was dismissed for 27 with 42 runs on the board.
The win helped the Capitals finish second at the end of the preliminary rounds on 12 points, while the Vipers topped the table with 14 points despite the loss.
It means the two teams will clash again in Qualifier 1 on Wednesday for an automatic spot in the final.
