Naparima College defeated San Fernando Central by a whopping 289 runs yesterday as matches in the PowerGen Secondary Schools Cricket League (SSCL) continued.
Playing at Lewis Street, San Fernando, Naps, batting first, scored a mammoth 325-3 off 32 overs with national under-15 opener Romario King scoring a magnificent 108. Fellow opener Jonathan Ramnarace also batted well and scored his first century as the two built an opening partnership of 170 runs.
King faced 65 balls, hitting 13 fours and three sixes, while Ramnarace, who carried his bat for 106, faced 96 balls and hit eight fours. Ramnarace also carried his bat against Ste Madeleine Secondary for an unbeaten 65. It means that the diminutive left-hander has now faced a total of 67 overs without being dismissed this season.
In response, San Fernando were bowled out for 36 runs, 15 of which were extras, as only batsman Keifer Ghisyawan got into double figures. Randel Gopaul, who earlier scored 38, grabbed four wickets without giving away a run in the rout.
