LONDON – An explosive Player-of-the-Match half-century from Nicholas Pooran spurred Northern Superchargers to a seven-wicket win against Southern Brave in the Men’s Hundred on Tuesday in England.
The West Indies left-handed batsman cracked four fours and five sixes in 62 off 34 balls, and Superchargers successfully chased a target of 147 to win their second match of the 100 balls-a-side tournament at Headingley.
Pooran, batting at three, added 49 off 31 balls for the second wicket with Graham Clark and set up the victory chase with a third wicket stand of 52 off 29 balls with England batsman and Superchargers captain Harry Brook.
Earlier, fellow former West Indies white-ball captain Kieron Pollard smashed 37 off 22 balls and shared a record seventh wicket stand of 52 with Barbados-born, England pacer Christopher Jordan that helped Southern Brave reach 146 for eight.
The Brave were scrambling on 91 for six off 63 balls before Pollard and Jordan beefed up their side’s total in a 35-ball blitz.
