The newest football team on the block in T&T football landscape Real West Fort United has joined the fight against the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, with a partnership agreement with the T&T Manufacturers Association.
The agreement was signed on Tuesday and it had an immediate effect with TTMA handing out sanitization stations for the club to use during its training sessions and at matches.
Ron La Forest, the club's owner and coach, said that the manufacturers association will also help steer them in the direction of other commercial partners in the future, a proposal that could further boost the club's financial capacity.
The club is also situated in the centre of the Diego Martin West constituency, which is being represented by Prime Minister Dr Keith Rowley and La Forest wants his club and the prime minister to lead the way on football in the country and the region soon.
A release from the club on Friday stated: "Just as Real West Fort was one of the first team's to begin training after the relaxing of COVID regulations by the government, so to they have led in ensuring that total sanitization protocols have been followed at its sessions."
According to La Forest: "I am very happy to receive the sanitization stations as we seek to stay COVID free. As a responsible organisation, the health and wellness of our players and staff is a top priority".
Meanwhile, Shurland Hartley the team's general secretary echoed La Forest's sentiments, noting: "This is a very important partnership for us as we go forward because the health of all our stakeholders is of utmost importance and the sanitization station coupled with the strict following of social distancing measures etc put us to the head of the class, which is a position we will like to be in, in all of our endeavours. Real West Fort United also continues to fight the effects of COVID-19 off the field with hamper distributions."
Real West Fort United continues preparation for the Ascension Super Cup which is scheduled to kick off on August 14, 2020, with training sessions on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays at the West Park Savannah, Diego Martin from 3:30 pm.
La Forest, an outstanding former national player, has promised that in the next five years the club will not only dominate local football but will be a household name in the Caribbean and the CONCACAF region.
