St Benedict's College assured itself a place in the semifinals of the KFC Goodwill Schools Football Tournament, taking place in Georgetown, Guyana.
Following an opening 5-2 victory over DC Caesar Fox Secondary for the Secondary Schools Football League's South Zone InterCol, National InterCol and Premier Division champions earlier this week, the 'La Romaine Lions' as they are commonly called, demolished Henry H Hassakhan Community College 6-0 on Tuesday, with instrumental striker Derrel Garcia not being among the scorers.
St Benedict's goals came from Ackeem James, Kylon Cayenne, Candon Burke, Lyshaun Morris, Adam Pierre and Elijah David.
It was their second win in Group 'A' which took them to six points, and already assuring themselves a place in the semifinals. Also in the winner's row on Tuesday was Jamaica's Clarendon College which hammered Dolphin Secondary 11-0 in Group 'B'.
Nicholy Forbes led the scoring for the Jamaicans with seven goals to ensure that his team stays unbeaten. Apart from Forbes, the other Clarendon goals came from Navar Anderson, Justin Clarke, Chevon Watson and Dameon Simms.
St Benedict's was scheduled to play their last group match last night against Chase Academy Foundation at 7 pm at the Ministry of Education Ground.
The game was expected to be the feature match of a doubleheader, with Henry Hassankhan and DC Caesar Fox.
