St Bene­dict's Col­lege as­sured it­self a place in the semi­fi­nals of the KFC Good­will Schools Foot­ball Tour­na­ment, tak­ing place in George­town, Guyana.

Fol­low­ing an open­ing 5-2 vic­to­ry over DC Cae­sar Fox Sec­ondary for the Sec­ondary Schools Foot­ball League's South Zone In­ter­Col, Na­tion­al In­ter­Col and Pre­mier Di­vi­sion cham­pi­ons ear­li­er this week, the 'La Ro­maine Li­ons' as they are com­mon­ly called, de­mol­ished Hen­ry H Has­sakhan Com­mu­ni­ty Col­lege 6-0 on Tues­day, with in­stru­men­tal strik­er Der­rel Gar­cia not be­ing among the scor­ers.

St Bene­dict's goals came from Ac­k­eem James, Ky­lon Cayenne, Can­don Burke, Lyshaun Mor­ris, Adam Pierre and Eli­jah David.

It was their sec­ond win in Group 'A' which took them to six points, and al­ready as­sur­ing them­selves a place in the semi­fi­nals. Al­so in the win­ner's row on Tues­day was Ja­maica's Claren­don Col­lege which ham­mered Dol­phin Sec­ondary 11-0 in Group 'B'.

Nicholy Forbes led the scor­ing for the Ja­maicans with sev­en goals to en­sure that his team stays un­beat­en. Apart from Forbes, the oth­er Claren­don goals came from Navar An­der­son, Justin Clarke, Chevon Wat­son and Dame­on Simms.

St Bene­dict's was sched­uled to play their last group match last night against Chase Acad­e­my Foun­da­tion at 7 pm at the Min­istry of Ed­u­ca­tion Ground.

The game was ex­pect­ed to be the fea­ture match of a dou­ble­head­er, with Hen­ry Has­sankhan and DC Cae­sar Fox.
