Trinidad and Tobago’s Liam Bryden shot a 75 after day 1 of the men’s individual play of the 67th Caribbean Amateur Senior Golf Championship, which kicked off at the Iberostar Golf Course in Bavaro, Dominican Republic on Wednesday.
Gomez is tied with compatriot Christopher Richards Jr for the 15th spot.
The day’s best performer is Rodrigo Huerta of the Dominican Republic with 69; he’s tied with Max Alverio of Puerto Rico for first place, while Juan Cayro Delagado of the Dominican Republic is one stroke behind for third with a score of 70.
T&T’s Ryan Gomez is tied for 18th on 76 with four other players: Ryan Lue (Jamaica), Richard Gibson Jr (Bahamas), William Jacobsen (Barbados), and Alejandro Caraball of Puerto Rico, respectfully.
T&T skipper Ryan Peters is further back in the 32nd position with a score of 81 and tied with three other players, while Ayden Ali is joint tied for the 37th position with a score of 84 with Michael Graci of the US Virgin Islands, and Marc Chevrotiere rounded off the T&T performances with a score of 87, tied for 41st place with Daniel De Quintal of the Cayman Islands and Chris Gornail of the Turks and Caicos Islands out of a field of 48 players.
In the Hoerman Cup Division, T&T lies fifth with a gross plus 19, while Puerto Rico leads with a minus three, followed by the Dominican Republic on a plus 2, Jamaica on a plus 8, and the Bahamas on a plus 15 to round off the top five of nine teams. Cayman Islands (6th) with a plus 28, the US Virgin Islands (7th) with a plus 30, Barbados (8th) with a plus 37, and the Turks and Caicos Islands (9th) with a plus 90.
In the individual women’s division play, T&T captain Victoria Seenath shoots an 81 for 12 out of 23 competitors. Elise Borde and Chole Ajodha both shoot 84 to tie for 14th place, while Zoe Correia shoots 91 to occupy the 21st position out of a field of 23 players.
T&T women are seeking to improve on their fifth-place finish in the George Teale segment and are in a two-way tie for fourth with the Bahamas with a plus 21. Leading the title race is Jamaica on even par, followed by Puerto Rico plus 1, the Dominican Republic plus 13, and the Cayman Islands seventh on a plus 25. The US Virgin Islands did not finish their play.
