Fast bowler Philton Williams destroyed the team whose bowling attack he led last year as Queens Park Cricket Club (QPCC) crushed Merryboys by an innings and 141 runs at the club’s Tragerete Road home in Port-of-Spain on day 2 of the T&T Cricket Board (TTCB) Premiership Division League Sunday (February 2).
Williams, who narrowly missed out on a Red Force selection in the ongoing Cricket West Indies Four Day Championship, took 7 for 26 as the Diego Martin team, following on, was bowled out for 108 in their second innings after their 106 in the first innings earlier in the day.
Resuming their first innings on 35 for 5, Merryboys were bowled out for 106 in their first innings, with Clydel Gorin their best batsman with 37 runs.
Abdur Rahman-Toppin took 3 for 9, and Namir Suepaul took 3 for 31 to demolish the boys from Diego Martin, already missing Marion Belcon, who is now with Yorkshire.
Things did not improve much in the second innings as Merryboys only improved their total by two runs and were bowled out for 108.
Philton Williams, back with the Parkites after spending a year at Diego Martin, took down Merryboys for the innings win.
Meanwhile, Champions Central Sports completed a comprehensive innings win over promoted Prisons at Felicity in Chaguanas.
After bowling the Prisons team for 66, the home team, missing regular captain Lendl Simmons, now with the Trinidad and Tobago Red Force team as a mentor in the ongoing Cricket West Indies Four Day Championship, scored an impressive 287.
Jeremiah Cruickshank led the way with 95, while Jerve Cummins took 3 for 52.
Prisons had a better showing in the second innings as Bryan Boodram scored 54 in their 205 all out to hand Central Sports the innings and 16 runs win.
